Imax Entertainment in Branson, Missouri
Branson’s IMAX Entertainment Complex is an indoor, family-friendly center that includes not only an IMAX theater but also additional cinemas, a live-show theater, an Ozark-themed sit-down restaurant, a small food court, and several shopping areas. A popular place to go when the whether is unpleasant in Branson, this totally enclosed complex is located just off Highway 76, close to most of Branson’s hotels and other attractions.
Those who travel to the IMAX Entertainment Complex seeking movies have two choices. They may visit the Giant-Screen IMAX Theater, which allows patrons to watch a movie on a screen that is 10 times larger than a conventional 35 mm screen. The screen is 6 stories tall and 83 feet wide and 22,000 watts of digital surround sound permeate the theater, putting the viewer in the middle of the action. This theater does not primarily show “regular” movies but rather adventure-type films that are best viewed on this kind of screen. In particular, the long-running film “Ozarks Legacy and Legend” provides Branson visitors with the opportunity to learn more about the area they’re visiting. However, this film rotates with others that are shown during the course of the day, with a total of about a dozen shows daily.
Guests can also visit the three-screen Elite III cinema where they can view the latest movies, some in 3D. These theaters include comfortable stadium seating with state-of-the-art Tempur-pedic™ foam seat pads. In addition, each evening, one first-run movie is shown on the giant IMAX screen.
In addition to movie watching, patrons can also visit the complex’s live theater. Dubbed “The Little Opry Theater”, this venue presents a variety of shows that feature country and bluegrass music. Shows rotate, and because the theater is small and intimate, all seats are good and the venue allows audience members to get close to the stars of the shows.
When it’s time to eat, there are plenty of choices at Branson’s IMAX Entertainment Complex. The main eatery on site is McFarlain’s Family Restaurant, a full-service facility inspired by the complex’s main IMAX film, Ozarks Legacy and Legend. It specializes in Ozarks cuisine such as fried green tomatoes, honeyed cornbread, fresh-baked pies, and much more. The other full-service restaurant at the complex is called Montana Mike’s Steakhouse, which specializes in hand-cut steaks for hearty appetites. In addition, a food court provides other dining options including a sub shop, pizza restaurant, and ice cream parlor.
Those interested in shopping will find 16 specialty shops here, which include a t-shirt shop, a quilt store, a unique music store, a clock shop, a fudgery, and a few collectible shops.
Branson’s IMAX Entertainment Complex is open year round
though hours for the movie theaters, shops, and restaurants may be different
from each other. Group rates are available for the theaters and groups can
be accommodated at the restaurants with advance reservations. Individual
movie tickets may be purchased online in advance as well.
