Grand Village Shops in Branson, Missouri
The Grand Village is a quaint shopping and entertainment complex in Branson, opened in 1993 by the owners of the Silver Dollar City theme park. Situated in the middle of the city’s entertainment district, close to many theaters and other popular attractions, the Grand Village Shops have become one of the best shopping destinations in Branson.
Small and pristine, this shopping area was designed to resemble downtown Charleston, South Carolina and includes brick walkways, beautiful shade trees, flowers, and dancing fountains. The buildings are colorful and the stores resemble those one would find on any Main Street, USA. Many of them sport old-fashioned hand-painted-style signs outside and it’s easy to picture a 19th century small town as you make your way through this attractive shopping area.
The 26 shops and two restaurants at The Grand Village are all individually owned and quite unique. Guests won’t find any ordinary chain retail establishments here. Instead, there are a handful of clothing boutiques that carry a variety of fashions (mostly for women); gift and specialty shops peddling items like gourmet foods, old-fashioned dolls, leatherwork, wood carvings, and home décor items; a Christmas collectibles shop; a health and beauty store that sells homemade products like soaps and lotions; a few unique jewelry stores; an art gallery and a blown glass shop; a fanciful toy shop; and a full-service book store that sells current best sellers as well as collectibles.
For shoppers with an appetite, there’s a 50s-style diner – complete with a singing wait staff - that offers an eclectic menu of standard diner favorites, as well as a café that sells soup and salads, quiche, and other light fare as well as a variety of sweet treats like cake and cookies.
The Grand Village is currently undergoing a Phase II addition which will significantly expand the offerings at the Village. The first part of the 14,000 square foot addition will include two large restaurant and entertainment anchors and is slated for opening in 2010. Another expansion, which will add some 71,000 square feet of retail shopping space to the Main Street area, hopes to attract more unique retailers. Also planned for the second expansion is a family-friendly hotel that will provide convenient access to all the attractions located along Branson’s famous Strip. Despite the large expansion, builders of Grand Village plan to maintain the quaint, small town feeling of the complex.
In addition to shopping and dining, the Grand Village also offers occasional events throughout the year including sidewalk sales, a Christmas in July event, and many other special celebrations including several at the holiday season in December.
The Shops at Grand Village are open year round. Hours
may vary according to season.
