
Musical Shows in Branson, Missouri
While Nashville considers itself the “Country Music Capital of the US” and Austin dubs itself the “Live Music Capital of the World”, Branson has just as many bragging rights as these other two impressive locales.
Though Branson’s musical history doesn’t go back nearly as far as that of places like Nashville or Austin, this is indeed a town where music is king. And the people here know how to do it well! Each year, millions of visitors come to Branson simply to enjoy the many live shows presented in the nearly three dozen theaters that are scattered throughout the city. Each one offers guests something a little different and the variety is wide enough to appeal to people of varying tastes, though the emphasis does lean heavily toward country music, which has always been popular is this part of the country.
Nonetheless, there’s a wealth of entertainment available in the theaters of Branson including more than just musical shows. Though shows change from time to time, here’s a sampling of what visitors can find on the vibrant Branson stage.
? Grand Palace Theater – This is Branson’s largest venue with seats for about 4,000 patrons. Acts here range from classic country singers of yesteryear to some of today’s biggest country music stars. You can also catch the Radio City Rockettes here for two weeks each Christmas season.
? Dick Clark’s American Bandstand Theater – One of the most popular shows in Branson – Legends in Concert – is presented here several times a week. Featuring a number of all-star impersonators, it celebrates the glory of Rock and Roll.
? Caravelle Theater – Most people head to the Caravelle to enjoy their unique “#1 Hits of the 60s” show, which has been playing for more than a half-dozen years. A number of other acts can be viewed at the Caravelle as well.
? Starlite Theater – This quintessential 1950s-era theater is home to Liverpool Legends, an exciting tribute to The Beatles. At least two other shows are scheduled at the Starlite Theater on a regular basis as well.
? Branson Variety Theater – This is Branson’s answer to Broadway! At this theater, guests will enjoy shows that feature great hits of the Great White Way. For the last 10 years, the theater has also presented the “Spirit of the Dance” Irish dance extravaganza and offers the “Spirit of Christmas” Broadway-style holiday show each December.
? Shoji Tabuchi Theater – Dubbed “The Showplace of Branson”, this theater hosts the amazing world-renowned violinist Shoji Tabuchi and his family in concert, presenting an eclectic program ranging from music of the 50s to gospel to Broadway. The Tabuchi family is also joined by a host of talented singers and dancers.
? Jim Stafford Theater – Comedian and musician Jim Stafford is in the spotlight here and his talent and witty satire makes this one of the most popular shows in Branson. Besides his jokes, Stafford wows guests with his classical guitar skills and also presents an annual Christmas show.
? New Shanghai Theater – This theater, with its classic Chinese architecture, houses the incredible Acrobats of China featuring the New Shanghai Circus. This amazing show highlights the unique talents of a troop of talented performers of all ages who will knock your socks off as they bend, twist, and fly in the air. The show has been in Branson since 1997 but moved into this new theater in 2005.
? Grand Country Music Hall – This small but busy theater hosts some of the most popular shows in Branson including the Buck Trent Morning Show, the Sunday Gospel Jubilee, the Comedy Jamboree, and the Comedy Pet Theater. Tickets sell out quickly as seating capacity is only about 500.
